“We were waiting for the World Series to begin Oct. 17, 1989, and our house began to rock, not with the usual 5 or 6 earthquake, but very violently…”
Candlestick Park, despite going completely dark, survived the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989. In fact, the Words Series was resumed (nearly a week later) and the Oakland A’s completely dominated and won the series.
Score trading cards, made a photo Lights Out: Candlestick…the card #701, in the 1990 Score set, is a piece of baseball and San Francisco history. The card is in EXCELLENT condition, having been kept from fading, storage wear and tear, clean, and dust free. Today, the card is of greater historical significance; since Candlestick park is no longer in existence, but was demolished in 2015.
